Counterweights for the pedals. I glued/screwed 4 oz flat round fishing weights near the bottom on the backs of pedals. It keeps them from flipping over away from you (especially if you leave the foot straps on). I'm sure Hobie is going to do something like this on their next revision but until then.....

Yep, same mod for me as well. I gooped some big egg sinkers to the bottom of the pedals. You can see 'em on the top right pedal.

I ordered the Turbo fins, can't wait to get them and give em a spin.

I removed the straps after the first trip.

You gonna love those turbo's CBY! Yeah, for some reason it feels better to me w/o the straps too. I mean the only reason you'd have straps is if you could have a pull stroke. But the way the MD pedals work, I've never felt I could. Efficient enough already..

Decided last outing that pedal straps were a nuisance and removed them.  Heck, more convenient without.  Same old problem, however: the pedals go upside down when I take my feet off.  I read the posts about adding sinkers to the back of the bottom edge.  Sounds right.  I had some plumber's putty left from making the reservoir I formed for my depth finder sensor (which works like a charm).  So, I filled the bottom of the back of the pedals with it.  The pedals don't go upside down with the putty counterweight.  Got to try it out to see if it will stay stuck to the pedals.

And the newest addition in Hobie performance are the Rock Solid Drive Arm upgrades!
Gives you the option of stock Hobie pedals or bicycle pedals plus the added security of knowing your drive arms won't break and leave you bobbing around, trying to paddle your Hobie back to your launch.

Wow! This post is blast from the past! 6 years ago..How time flies!

The newer pedals have a little bungie that keeps the pedals oriented correctly.
See ya on the water..
