Hopefully, I'm starting a new thread correctly for intro yourself.  As many others here I'm new to Kayaking.  My past boating experience was a 1969 18' Fiberform boat about 7 years ago.  That didn't go well or last long.  The last four years I have been using a Nordic inflatable mainly for crabbing out of Seahurst Park and other areas in the Puget Sound.  That has been fun but kind of boring.  So as with many other things I sold my Fiberform, Nordic, and engine on craigslist for a loss.  Of course, I didn't sell the Fiberform until after I had a new top put on it, - I turned $4,000 into $300.  Now I have 2 new Kayaks for the wife and myself.  Looking forward to getting them in the water this coming weekend.  I signed up for the Coho Classic.  Another first will be trying to catch a Salmon.  Looking forward to meeting many of you in the future.  Looks like I have a few locals nearby in West Seattle.  See ya.

Welcome, Freeze!

And you got it right - new topic in the correct sub-forum and all that. You're also right about having several guys to learn from. Off to a start already. Which kayaks did you buy?

Welcome to the kayak club.  I lived in Burien for 17 years and heard that Three Tree Pt. is a good place to fish for salmon, but really no place to launch a kayak by one person.  All the Maritime Access has rocks which requires two people to get kayak to the beach.  I have only done this once and some beach comber came an helped me get it back from the beach.  If you go out there give me a call and we can help each other get pass the rocks and onto the beach.

Seahurst Park is where I would go with my inflatable boat, I had that set up so I could carrry it.  I could go anywhere without help.  Now 51 I'm getting tired of that.  Seahurst had some changes to the seawall over the last year, planning on going down there after work to check it out.  I did get two Kayaks.  Guess the wife will have to help.

Tell me how it goes at Seahurst Park.  It's been a while since I've been to the park.  Is it easy to access the Sound still with a kayak?

Tried to go to Seahurst Park but it is still closed until August 25th for the remodel so I couldn't see it what it's looking like.  My buddy here lives in Normandy Park so this week we will be going to the Cove.  He says that is a decent place to launch from.

Hey freeze and woo did you launch on the west side of three tree point?  There is another launch site about 1-1/2 blocks east and then north by the water district pump plant. I launched on the west side last year, didn't go so well.  If you live in the area you should check it out.  Parking is very limited but I think it might be a little easier to launch from there.
