I have two guests I am going to try and get on some halibut Saturday and Sunday.  Weather looks do-able but not perfect.

I am going to take one guest out at a time.  Not sure where I am launching from.  I am hoping I can fish the guests with standard gear and I will fish other gear for both halibut and salmon.  No kings North of Bluff pt!!!  But I think we have a shot at cohos and other salmon.

Anyone else headed down???

I got my Propel last night but have not rigged anything yet, only one rod holder and no depth finder installed yet, I am crazy enough to try a run down if you'd give me a pointer or two. Where do you stay? I was going to pull my Jumping Jack trailer. I was really going to target in two weeks when the boat is done but...

I stay at my parents. WG is a steep gravel road. Deep creek might be a better option.

Good news is you have all you need. Depth finder is useful and fun but not necessary.
Let me get to a computer. But maybe go to my page at Alaskakayakfisher.com and go to locations and cook inlet.

My better half reeled me in and suggested that I put the boat in at the lake before I launch for the first time in the salt. So I may be on the road to the Pennisula for Sunday until  Monday after I take a shake down cruise closer to home.

Flat calm, then 3 ft seas, and now less than a ft. Three so far fishing two rods. I limited so my guests are trying it out on their own.

Two in the 25 pound range and one 15 pounder.

  Nice butts Rudy.
Hope your guests scored as well.

Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Rudy thank you for the beach pictures and all the advice, I have found on your blog very helpful. I am  headed to Anchorage in the morning to pick up my dry suit and then headed to WG or vicinity.

Sunday WG;I figured out the current after I went the wrong way, I fought the tide for over an hour and a half until I got closer to shore. I caught  a 15 lb-er or so (32') and got him him boated and after about 30 minuets he woke up and jumped out of the boat. I guess that is my first one in the boat. He sat there just out of reach and I swear he was glaring at me for awhile then headed for the bottom. A large fish clip is on the buy list.

It was fast and the only way I could fight the out going tide. The propel was very stable and the seat was a pleasure no sciatic pain. I still need to to get her rigged up. I used my Humminbird Fishing buddy which worked pretty well except for the drag.
I am still researching which fish finder, Lowrance discontinued one of the 4 series I was looking at.

That's funniest thing I've heard all day...almost snorted wine due to uncontrollable giggle.
