Ummmm.......when's the last time there was a 'group order' for cast aluminum paddles???  Lol! Just kidding fellers.....
Among sea kayakers it is almost expected that you carry a back up paddle on anything other than a short trip.
Recently I have been crabbing with my Addy with the drive removed and plug installed. Gives me more deck space of dealing with traps. Both type of SOTs are great and I still have more paddle boats than pedal boats.

They are billet not cast BTW :P

I looked at the Mirage PA 14 as a possibility because it has a seat that is comfortable but was scared away by the weight and thinking about loading and unloading 110 lbs.  The main reason I was looking at the Native Watercraft is because the seat is very comfortable as opposed to the rest of the Hobie line which I find uncomfortable.  So how do you load and unload the PA 14 and can you use the upright seat in rough conditions?

I like the simplicity of my T15.  That said I would really like to be hands free for places like Memaloose to troll salmon on the slack line bites.  Practically everyone out there has their rod in hand ready to set a hook.

Tempted by the pedal side, but recent posts of problems with hobies, and their rigid pricing has kept me on the paddle.

Pedaling is for lazy people who lack coordination.   >:D

-Spot-

Work smarter not harder!

Obviously paddle kayaks work when kayak fishing world (they were the only kind at first), but pedaling has opened the door to many people who do not have a background in proper paddling technique. It is much easier to pedal for a long period of time from the get go than paddling. Pedal kayaks just make things easier in some ways, but they do present their own challenges. They have moving parts which by nature will wear and eventually break. Its just a fact of life that moving parts wear out and break down.

I have a Hobie, but have enjoyed paddling in kayaks before and will own one someday. Just try out a few different types and see what feels the best. There is no wrong answer fortunately.

The PA14 is more boat than kayak.  Only 3" longer yet it outweighs the Revo13 by 45 pounds.

Fred...I have a 2013 PA-14 that I keep on my trailer.....With parallel 3" PVC pipes installed, it's easy to load, unload and makes for simple/no hull damage storage support concerns.
Since the PA is 38 1/2" wide, even with the seat in the elevated position, it's very stable....I think you would fall out of it first, before turning it over.
Re-entry into the PA is very easy over the back/stern due to the shape and it's low height off  the water.

I agree on the re-entry, I can walk right up on the back of my PA12 and to the seat...

here is an example of a PA12 (which is almost as wide as a PA14) with seat in high position getting rolled:

I want that white car (or is it a truck) at the end of that video. 8)

The white vehicle looks like an Australian Ford Ranchero or maybe a Holden/GM competitive model.

The guy who capsized looks like he lost steerage control and got caught in the trough between waves??
The PA-12 is 2" narrower than the PA-14, but the extra 2' of length helps with stability.

I think you are asking the wrong person. That video wasn't taken by anyone here...
