My buddy was thinking about launching his drift boat at pc and I was just wondering if anybody has done that before or if they have seen it done?

Used to be done daily in the 1950's.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

I figured he would be alright on a nice day I told him I could help him get out and then follow him in my yak.

Saw a guy and teenage son do it a month or so on a flat day. Doable in the right conditions.

There are a few people that still launch wherries and dories under the power of oars off the beach. They usually do it on the days where the swells are essentially gone. Tinman on ifish(one of the dory guys) did it recently in his wherry and caught some nice coho in it.

I went out to the rock to dive recently and two other divers rowed a drift boat out.  But they were pretty comfortable with the water, intentionally jumping in and diving to the bottom.
