looking at getting a new yak

Not a rich man so a hobie is out of the question. But found this one not to much money. I can give my other one to my son, would love to show him and teach him kayak fishing

Rich men are not pedaling Hobies, but motoring around in their Hatteras yachts. A new Hobie sells for $2,000 and includes the Mirage drive and a paddle and an excellent rudder setup. A comparable Ocean Kayak costs $1200 and does not include a paddle or a rudder (or a PFD).

If you want to spend as little as possible buy a used fishing kayak from someone who is "upgrading" to something else. Craiglist is one place to look as are the classifieds on the various fishing forums. I sold a great Necky kayak with a rudder and with a good paddle and a PFD for $700. The buyer got a very good boat at a reasonable price and a boat that was ready to take out on the ocean. With a used fishing kayak a lot of the rigging is included in the price and you can save hundreds more dollars.
