Headed to Chambers for the incoming tide.  Say Hi if you are around!  I am in the Wavewalk.

Went to Chambers from about 1:30 -6pm.  No luck.  I was pulling an FBR herring rig.

Just some observations, didn't see any rolling anywhere.  And there were not great concentrations of fish on the screen.  In fact, in close not a lot happening.  After a run or two I went outside to where the transition between the eddy current and main current were.(150-200) feet of water, and there was bait all over the place and fish on the screen. When I first got there, there was one other boat.  When I left there were about 8 but only one was close in.  Everyone else was doing what I was doing trolling.  No one was jigging.

This is only my first time fishing it so no expertise here.  But it would seem that the fish are not yet in close.

I did see some dolphins, which was cool.

One other note.  I had intended to park in the turn out, but getting there it did not look real safe .  In fact, it looked like a great place to have tires slashed or your car broken into and the mud and hill looked bad.  There is a small park just down the road, that charges $5, for great wide open parking.  My kayak has a wheel and so I was able to just wheel it down the sidewalk to the water and the paddle to the bridge was not far.  Worth every penny in my book. .02

Goodluck to those who head out, look forward to seeing some fish soon.

I was there from 9 to 1:30, did some trolling and a lot of jigging w/ a Pt Wilson dart.  I don't have a FF so not sure about depths, but guessing between 80-100 based on line out of the reel.  I didn't connect with any salmon, one rockfish that was let loose.  Worked back and forth to the north of the creek.  Switched over the shallows and played with the founder in the shallows for a while.

I parked at the little pull-out on the creek with no problems at all, today and last weekend.  Lots of mud, not surprisingly, so much better at high tide than low  :)  There were maybe a couple dozen carcasses around the tribal boats, so there are some fish out there, just didn't see 'em today…

I just did some research. Looking back at some old posted fishing reports, the kings should be in any day now. A couple of people said white buzz bombs are the go to for this creek. Thinking I mite give it a go in a day or two.

I woke up at 4:30 and was in the water at Chambers Creek at 5:00AM...I launched where the natives put their boats in and fished the slack/outgoing tide until about 8-8:30. Not a damn thing. I did see two brought in, one of which had to be 20+ and the other one a little smaller. Both of those were caught on Darts in white from what I saw...Anyway, I mooched brined herring, jigged three different Darts in different colors, and go a little closer to shore to see if something would hit a white/light green Buzz Bomb in about 20 feet or so of water. I do not have any electronics so I feel like I am kind of pissing in the wind to some extent...Kind of frustrating. I was constantly adjusting my line to keep it close to the bottom; trying to see if I could entice anything and nada. I did not see any other kayakers, which surprised me. When I was done I got the yak out (through a bunch of mud - what a mess) and wiped off and then went and parked by where the drain comes in by the old mill and threw Buzz Bombs. I tried three different colors but did not have any takers. One guy was next to me and he did not catch anything either. I think some rain would really help right now.  Good luck out there.

Thanks for the write up. My neighbor saw fish taken Saturday on white darts as well. I'll be there this Friday if anyone wants to join the festivities. Not sure what time yet, but likely oh shit it's dark.

It was blacker than the inside of a cow when I launched out there. I actually chilled in the creek area and threw Buzz Bombs to let it lighten up somewhat. I am glad I remembered that the sun does not come out as early in the Narrows as Commencement Bay. I wore my wetsuit and was glad that I did. Once the sun was up though it got hot in the thing. The Darts are the gear of choice for sure out there. I was slathering it up with anchovy Smelly Jelly as well and no dice...I'll be down there again but probably not until after the holiday weekend. I am however taking my casting rod up to my cabin in Packwood to try the upper Cowlitz...By the way, there is a total shit-show of a flea market up in Packwood this weekend. GREAT people watching and people are always selling fishing stuff. Some of it looks like it cam from "On Golden Pond" but some of it is pretty decent. Kind of a fun road trip if you are just kicking it at home this weekend...

Love your descriptive report LOL!  I'm heading out there early in the AM to try my luck. At least there are signs if life there now. You happen to see the natives " fishing" luck?
