I’ve installed my “rock solid arms” in my Mirage Drive.  They went in with no problem, and weigh only 4.5 ounces per arm (9 ounces total) more than the original arms.  For those more familiar with metric measurements, that’s only 12.6 grams per arm (25.2 grams total) more than the original arms.

I have a few thoughts for Fungunnin's next edition of the arms:

1.    Include a foot of 1/8” black shock cord with the arms.  I had some in the parts room in my man cave, but some people might have difficulty locating some of this shock cord.

2.   The top of the arm has sharp edges and corners.  These edges and corners could gouge footwear or bare feet when you're pedaling, and they could chew up the plastic of your kayak when the Mirage Drive is banging around in your kayak's cockpit.  I’ve filed a bevel on the top of the arms, and have colored the bevel with a black sharpie waterproof pen to reduce the effect of the bevel on the aesthetics of the anodization on the arms.  I suggest that you add this bevel on future shipments of the arms.

3.   The top of the arm has a 3/8” (1 cm) hole for the little plastic doohickey which retains the shock cord.  I suggest that you reduce the size of this hole to one which is just big enough to easily accept 1/8” shock cord.  This would make the plastic doohickey unnecessary, and would allow you to shorten the portion of the arm which sticks up above the pedal shaft.

First off .... Thank you for the feed back! I am working on a few tweaks for the second production run and will be listening to any feedback you guys have. If you have anything you like to see changed please let me know, or if there is anything you absolutely don't want changed please chime in. This has been a fun learning process for me. Thank you guys for your support!

I got mine in the mail and installed them just in time for a multi day trip (video coming soon)...AWESOME!!! they feel great.  I eliminated my adjusters and just bolted the top of the arm through the drum with a stainless bolt and nylock nut since I never adjust my arms. It totally changes the feel of the drive..."rock solid"

I beat the living crap out of them in some pretty rough conditions. At one point during a launch my boat got completely airborne and I hit the fwd stop pretty hard...didn't miss a beat.

Thanks Billy, you da man!!!

Bill,
I was out of town until yesterday.......my '' upgrade was delivered on Saturday" and was secured by my daughter in-law....safe and sound.

I installed the new pedal arms this afternoon.....and taking note of pmmpetes observations and suggestions, I was able to source a 5.0mm, heavy duty shock cord locally at Windance Board shop in Hood River...they specialize in both windsurfing and kite boarding equipment, hardware, etc, etc. A 1 foot piece was $0.85.....

So, I enlarged the shockcord hole slightly under the foot pedal rib and used a 10-32 SS fender washer on the front side of the arm I fed the cord through and tied a stopper knot.
Everything fit like a glove and I know your design is "rock solid".

Thanks for making available, a high quality upgrade pedal arm set, that is now ready to power my PA-14!

Is it possible to make the arms quick disconnect so we can store the drives in the hull during surf launch/landings so we can avoid hobuck beach walks?

Since the pedals are threaded they could be removed and that would remove a bunch of the bulk. The other option is just leash your drive =)

Leash your drive?   That's just crazy.

Got mine but haven't installed the.  I'm just wondering how to balance my Pro Angler with that additional 9 ounces.  Thanks Bill~
