Ocean is calming down this weekend and Sunday looks like an opportunity to pedal out and do some ocean coho fishing off the mouth of the Siuslaw, we already have coho moving into the river, big numbers of coho just offshore, and from what I am hearing on my marine radio, the PB folks are catching limits not far out.

Anyone interested in, based on conditions calming as expected, heading out after the 10:30am low for several hours of coho fishing?  cheers, roger

from NOAA NWS:
Friday Marine Summary off Florence:  THE THERMAL TROUGH GRADIENT HAS WEAKENED OVER THE AREA. STEEP CHOPPY SEAS WILL GRADUALLY LOWER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. LIGHT WINDS AND SEAS CAN BE EXPECTED TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY MONDAY..

Sunday Marine: Variable winds 5 kt or less. Mostly cloudy. NW swell 2 ft. Wind waves 1 ft or less.

Sunday Florence: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday tides, Siuslaw entrance:  Low 10:30am at 2ft, incoming to a 7ft high at 4:30pm.

Roger,
That looks like the best possible forecast one could ever wish for!  Let us know how you do, and good luck getting in on some of those chunky salmon!!  Hope to get down to the Siuslaw again this season, I'll look you up (and bring my own gas money this time).

Sounds like a great idea & I wouldn't pass up the opportunity if I didn't have to be off the water by noon. Have a great trip & looking forward to your report.

well, family plans changed and just took up my Sunday, plus feedback from some PB is that the hot east wind this week has cooled off the fishing near our river mouth.  I did fish the Slaw Friday from my PA12, no fish for me but last Sunday got this 23.75"/6# jack into the yak and then Monday put a 35# king in the PB...still looking for my first adult chinook hook-up in the yak, maybe Barb "the king slayer" will make it down in October to share some magic...cheers, roger

excellent, you still in the blue kayak?   my son is here until Friday and Troutmasta from OFF is coming down so I will running the PB ("Crab Bandit") all week trying to get them on some fish but also squeezing in kayak outings whenever possible, lots of coho in the river already and looks like some rain coming mid week, I really like the look of Wed-Thur,  hope to see you out there...

Saturday my wife and I took our Oasis to Siltcoos for a test outing, we are planning to use it to catch our coho from the lake this year, and with reports of some really large coho in the ocean offshore here I am really looking forward to October....cheers, roger
