Chinook at PDX today

Got a late start today after dropping off the kids at school, and the river was really crowded for this area.  Probably a hundred boats, and saw about 5 fish caught in the first few hours.  At the end of the tide my rod started to dance a bit so I picked it up and gave a nice tug - fish on! 

Did not want to go off anchor because I was a little upriver from the wing dam just east of the boat ramp.  The wind was pushing boats toward the shore.  Made for a tough net job with a 6ft leader.  16 lbs on the scale, nice bright fish.  Sitting in 30fow did not think I had the best chance at a fish.  The hog line I was in was very excited to see this go down in front of them.

So many nice salmon being caught lately!  Excellent job onefish!

That's very encouraging.  I've been putting my time in about 1/2 mile upstream from Warrior Rock Lighthouse Thurs., Fri., and the entire outgoing tide yesterday 6:00-2:00.  I haven't seen a single fish boated.  I guess Saturday was the fastest action so far this year.  I haven't seen another Yak either.  Way to represent Onefish.
