cby,
not to reiterate the entire thread, like others, have been making dry bags of various sizes one of my "priority"purchases, and carry sevral with me on every trip, usu. loaded with things like dry clothing, snacks, a flask of jim beam or makers mark, [ heh heh dint kno that did ya?]  and a flask of cognac..and various little bits of safety gear, etc's & so forths.....my wallet & cell go in the smallest brightest colored one, in the rod pod tray...

but, i leash everything inside and out [ yeah guys, thats what takes me so long to rig when we meet]. it's already saved me the cost of my entire fly fishing gear bag contents, plus, when i stick rods below decks, they have a tendency to slide back under where i couldnt reach them , so now, i leash them, and they are super easy to pull up when i want to change rods.

go to Ace Hardware, and for less than $15.00 you can get enough small sized snap links and other hooking  type devices, plus 50- 100 ft of 1/4 inch nylon rope and make them just the way you want, any length you want..

what?  i learned to do that from watching online video's.. especailly that one guy who made a living out of DIY  yak gear, john whateverhisname  ;D

anyways, sorry to hear your phone went for a swim w/o you... has to suck, and not in a good way..  >:D
