I finally figured out where I wanted to store my rods and how. Didn't take long and less than $10. I probably saw one of you do this and subconsciously made it my idea.

I've been struggling with this. I might use your idea when I remodel my fishing man-cave in the future.

I did something similar trying to use up some scrap plywood. I used a hole saw and then cut notches on the non-handle side for my longer rods so I wouldn't have to try and slide a 9 1/2 rod through the hole.  This was a modification in place after trying to slide a 9 1/2 foot bobber rod through that hole.  :) I have three sets hanging on my ceiling wherever I had room. Your's is much prettier and has a more "finished" appearance.  Did you use the pre-cut pieces for corrugated roofing?

Craig - I bought the wavy stuff at the local hardware store. It came in an 8ft stick for 2.49. I think they called it wiggle board.

Oh I like that! I'm going to have to do something similar; I've been trying to find a better way to put the rods up. Thanks!

Someone once bent my ear, at length, about why I shouldn't keep storing my rods in a horizontal rack, like these.  The guy swore up-and-down that graphite rods will develop and hold a bend.

Does anyone know if that's true or not?  Trying to store the long rods in a vertical rack is a burning PITA.

P.S.  I like both of these holders and boy, I sure could use one...

Mine have hung like that for the last 3 years with no issue.  However, I like to take them down as often as I can and get them wet. I have had some up there (smaller trout rods) that I haven't used in three years and have not seen any bending.  Mine are somewhat balanced though. The only rod I have that has a permanent bend near the tip is a fiberglass Whuppin' Stik I left in the car bent for an extended period of time during warm weather.

I really like the second holder.  I might have a new project in front of me.

Thank you, Craig.

I store the bulk of my rods horizontal from the ceiling as well. My system is much less elegant as I have too many rods to give each an individual spot. I just ran some thin chain through PVC and lay the rods in there. Storing the less used rods with the reels off gives me more space too.

Damn Bill------- how many rods you got there ????
My current count is 26 rods.

No ceiling space in my garage, and one small empty section of wall - I went with vertical storage on a boring weekend last winter...

There is a small shelf in the corner holding my smaller trout and bass rods.
