Today is pimp the box day.  Here's how it turned out.  This is the Plano Box that fits in the back area of the Ocean Kayaks.

I wanted to put 3 of those smaller Plano waterproof boxes in, but they were a tad too thick.  So I went with  2 of the smaller ones and 1 of the bigger ones which is shorter.

First up is the leader spool holder.  This idea is courtesy of sqawfish at NCKA.  Thanks Sean.

Second up is a fly rod holder.  I need one up in AK.  I'm renting a P13 and it has the 2 conventional flush mount holders (which don't take a flyrod) both of which will be stuffed with conventional rods (so there is no room anyway).  Here's the solution to my problem.

I'm gong to finish the box off with a couple of pad eyes to leash the box down.  In case I get an itch to use the flyrod to bucktail for cohos while underway.  Alas, I left my box of pad eyes up in Seattle so that part will have to wait.  A couple of rivets and it's a quick job anyway.

Oh ... I picked up a couple new Avet SX's.  See the blue reel in the box.  I can't wait to put the hurt to some butts with those things.

I have been using the Avet for a couple years---love it!!  Mostly use it for mooching, lost a huge king due to backlash when my thumb got burned while "thumbspooling" and I took my thumb off and got a backlash, when the king hit the end of the line it popped with a crack. So no more trolling with the Avet.  The drag on those reels is incredibly smooth, and strong---you can put it in full drag and pick up a bowling ball.
(Sounds kinda risque----full drag??  ;-))  Plus, the lack of a level wind means less maintenance and fewer things to bust or get gummed up.
