A very short report from a trip last weekend.

My bro-in-law and I fished off the condos and out to the green buoy on both Sat and Sun.

On Sat, we both caught small kings using a white and black spoon behind silver dodgers. Each fish was small. I caught a second, but I opted to not use the net and that caused me to lose the fish. We were both fishing about 50 feet.

On Sunday, I caught a larger (9-10lb) king. Same set up. It was about 30 minutes after high tide. I was 30' deep and zig-zagging out in front of the condos.

Great fun out there, but only the pollock fishing was hot...the kings, not so much.

Keep in mind you are king fishing!  In November! In Open Water!  In Alaska!  I'd say GREAT job!

I'll take a 10 pound feeder over a 20 pound in-river fish any day!

I'm just trying to convince myself its worth another trip down this weekend.  lol. 8 hhour round trip drive does seem like an awaful lot for small kings.

I've got a proxy so four 10 pounders would be like driving all the way down to the Kenai River and catching one forty pounder right?  I'm not crazy or have addiction issues right?

You are right. It was great to be out.  I'm eyeballing that long weekend next week. But who knows what the weather holds.
