Game clips.  I don't know anyone that has them in PDX.  I checked dive shops, too.  They told me they were seasonal and could order them.  I cut out the middleman and ordered it myself.

YES! I have had the same experience. After people at Fisherman's, Cabelas, and Sportsman's Warehouse looked at me with a blank stare when I said "game clip" and two local dive shops never called me back, I just ordered mine from elsewhere. Same things with the Gulp grubs - until Cabelas you could barely find them around Portland, and then they'd only have 1 or 2 colors in stock.

Noah, Spot and Fungunnin all have excellent lists. I would like to add a few basic Steelhead items.
1) 1/8 and 1/4 ounce jigs. Nightmare colors, pink and orange color heads with various colored bodies
2) bobbers (black foam, orange top) 1/4 to 1 ounce. Clear hard plastic 20g. to 25g.
3) inline swivel weights 1/4 to 3/4 ounce
4) bobber stops- the thread kind. The new wire ones have difficulty holding on to braided line.
5) fluorocarbon leader- various sizes

Berkley Gulp in "Nuclear Chicken" is also a popular one, but Lancers are always the top of my list for bottom fishing

+1 on the nuke chicken and the lancer jigs.

I buy the Berkley gulp "New Penny" color, and some 4 oz copper colored lancer jigs. When the tail eventually falls off the lancer jig, stick the berkely grub on the jighead and the colors match up perfectly. Looks like they were made for eachother.

You guys rock.  Many accessories mentioned are already on my list such as the mounts, game clips, fish grips, etc.  As we start narrowing down tackle items will certainly have to do a pole for some items and colors.

Thanks for all the help folks, Hope to meet everybody soon!

You may enjoy a trip to Salmon University Saltwater Seminary in March. Lots of networking and local experts to get you up to speed in a hurry. All boaters, but they know Washington and BC fishing.

I agree with Bill, herring doesn't seem practical at NA.  And if you want to see a small store with all the right salt and salmon gear go to the little store at Barview.  That place has a great selection of the right gear packed into two little isles.

Barview jetty store rocks and they has good advice to boot. Just north of wheeler.

Two things I have the most difficult time finding in smaller tackle shops are fresh live sand shrimp and circle hooks.

That reads like someone needing a Sturgeon fix.
