Rudy, Did you give up on the shrimping?

It has been on my mind, using the Scotty Depth Master or perhaps a side crank to lift the pots. I'm wondering if my Dewalt drill has enough torque to bring up two or three pots on the same string?

My other thought was two yaks going in opposite direction the pot line attached to one boat and feeding through and eyelet on the stern of the other almost like using a buoy to pull an anchor, but instead of buoy using water resistance both kayakers go in opposite directions.

I saw someone post about the two kayak method.  Not sure why it wouldn't work.

I haven't given up on them per say.  I know it can be done and I have it hidden away in my "things to do to impress people while camping" bag of tricks.

To be perfectly honest.  I hate WHITTIER!!!!!!  I don't mean to offend anyone, but the locals are rude, the non-locals worse.  There is ZERO fish to catch and the weather always sucks.  They charge for breathing their air, and I hate being on other people's schedule (Tunnel schedule).

I have friends who HAMMER shrimp.  I think one got 6,000 shrimp last year so I get what I need.  I don't enjoy it at all except the challenge and the eating.  If this was anywhere other than Whittier, I would drop pots and then go fish.  Despite all of the venting, I will try it again at some point.  Shrimp, octopus, herring, and maybe juvenile back cod are my targets.  So while the food quality if high, fun factor is not so high.

The downrigger was easy, even off of my mini-x.  I'd recommend that route for what i have tried.  The rod and reel thing is impossible unless you are the incredible hulk or have exactly the right set up.

Good knowledge, I plan on hitting it for herring to brine and maybe some to pickle.
