Rod saver

A friend of mine saw this at a rod builders convention in Ohio, this product is supposodly going to be marketed primarily to Kayak fisherman, $39.95, plus install should you need someone to install it for you.
Thoughts.

I'll just stick with rod floats.

Its a good idea but I can't see your average Joe using this.most folks aren't going to put this on a $40 rod or have the tools or experience to modify a rod.let alown modify a USA built rod costing upward of $300 might screw up your warranty which kinda defeats the purpose. My .02

Quick note, I have no attachment to this company, just thought it was interesting. Not sure how much something like this is going to help in flowing water, as by the time it deploys, it's quite a ways from your yak.
Maybe for a professional guide, but then I'm not sure how many rods are lost overboard from a guide boat or charter boat.

That's a pretty slick looking device. Even if it's not practical for much other than bass fishing shallow'ish water, it's nice to see someone think outside standard floats and leashes. Thanks for posting! This might get the ball rolling on some new product we can all appreciate!
