I took the opportunity to hit Coldwater Lake this past Monday. It was remarkably warm but even more amazing was the complete lack of snow on the peaks surrounding the lake. There are many times the lake is inaccessible into March or even April but that is not the case this year.

I launched from the ramp on the south shore and trolled north back and forth across the lake until I reached the north end. I encountered a few fish scattered across the lake but most were concentrated on alluvial flats at stream inflows on the north end of the lake. In total I landed 9 fish varying from 7-15" in size and hooked many more (the lake is single point barbless).

This is a really beautiful and special kayak fishing location as no combustion engines are allowed. Additionally, the lake and its rainbow trout have an interesting history so I decided to do a video focus on this lake. I hope you enjoy it.

Looked like a great day.  Don't see any nearby camping areas on the map.  Are there any around there that you know of?

There is not any camping available directly on the lake. However, there is a private campground 15-20 minutes away at Kid Valley and at Seaquest State Park another 15 minutes down the road.

Nice thread on Coldwater Lake Tyler. While we didn't take the kayaks out, my Nephew and I fished this lake for the first time, back on January 31st, from pontoon boats. The weather was phenomenal as  I kicked/trolled a Muddler Minnow from a spinning rod. I had the fly slightly weighted and about 50-60 feet behind me. The attached pictures are the three that I caught in about as many hours.

Great video and interesting lake. Looks serene. I'm about ready to find some spots like that where it's only non-motorized... I'm getting burnt out on competing with bank anglers and powerboats. It's interesting to me how the wild fish look different than the stocked fish. Good stuff.
