Hey everyone, went to Detroit lake yesterday for some Kokanee fishing. Unfortunately it wasn't in my revo 13 because that hasn't came in yet. Should be getting that by this tuesday so i can rig it up!!! Anyways, a lot of boaters coming back with limits. Its only a 5 bag limit. The ones we got were around 12 inches. They were anywhere from 25ft down to 50-60ft on the FF. Water temperatures varied from 48-54ish. Good amount of trout near the surface as well. Only down side to the lake right now is there is a lot of wood debris in the water. Oh and we weren't using down riggers just lead, sling blades, and wiggle hoochies. My dad went back to the old fender wedding ring for some as well. I like the fight in the dodger rather than pulling in a stump feeling with the fenders. Just thought I'd give a little report for anyone in the salem area that kokanee fishes or wants to. Any questions on what we did let me know! I plan on taking the kayak to green peter lake soon as well.

That's encouraging that they were 12". I keep reading about how dinky they are up at Green Peter again this year and it makes me not want to go.

THanks for the update on Detroit.  Did you happen to get a read on the water temperature?  I'm surprised the kokanee are at 25-60ft depth already...dang, I don't have my downrigger operational on my kayak.  Were you marking schools? do you think you could jig for some kokanee?  I've heard good news about the size and abundance of kokes in detroit, but limit of 5 is not many...but better than 25 dinks at Green Peter for sure.

Water temp was anywhere from 48-54ish depending on where I was. There were some that were in the 100ft range as well but I wasn't targeting those. No downrigger. I didn't really see any big schools but they were on definitely all over the FF. We got out late so we were only on the water for maybe 3hrs. Not to sure how jigging would be without finding a nice school of them. I would rather catch 5 larger fish over 25 dinks any day as well lol.
