Paddled from coeur D alene to Post Falls ID via the CDA river. Myself and a friend Walked the bike trail behind my house all of 5 minutes using my kayak cart to haul both yaksto the river and dropped in. Didnt catch anything and I lost my favorite plug, but it was a nice day to be on the water and a nice bit of exercise.

I'm jealous of your bare feet.  It's been snowing on and off all day in Missoula.

I've done some biking in the area, but haven't done any kayak fishing.  I'd like to get over there for some kayak fishing, particularly lake trout fishing.

I know of a few awesome lakes about 30 min from here, non motorized and can catch your limit in trout in no time. I try and get out every weekend, let me know if you want to try and make it over here one of these days.

There is some pretty good smallie fishing in the river and lake at Post Falls a little later in the spring when the water warms up. Problem is when the water warms that area is a powerboat madhouse all spring and summer. decent fishing only possible early in the morning before the hordes hit the water. What was the water temp??...warf

I am fairly certain I saw a Bass in some debris near the bank. There were a lot of hazards right below the surface, that doesnt detour the boats in the summer on the river? I didnt bring my depth finder that day but it was fairly cold I would say in the low to mid 40's

In the 40s is pretty cold for bass, they don't get very active until the temp's hit about 55 degrees, the local pike don't care how cold it is.

The summer boat wakes will drive you crazy in that area, if your fishing close to the rocks and cliffs you have to be extra careful as some of those wakes are pretty big and can toss the yak into the rocks real fast. Most don't slow down for kayaks. I think the bigger the boat the smaller the brain..lol...warf

I am going to move to the Post Falls area to an Island in the river just before the river opens up into the lake. I am going to snowbird it from Alaska and will be using a kayak to fish in the spring and fall. I am going to leave my propel in Alaska and will get another when we transition to Idaho, I am sold on pedal power so it maybe another Propel or a Hobie, I have caught a bunch of smallies right off of our boat dock but have never fished on the lake.  The country is sure beautiful but I can't leave Alaska permanently. Keep posting your adventures.

Sounds good, I fell in love with Alaska years ago I spent a summer doing tours of a mine, Id love to go back. Let me know whey you get to the area, always looking to hit the water with other paddlers.
