Another beautiful morning on the willy....no wind, some sun...lake conditions. Around 9am this 14lb chinook grabs my green label herring and causes me all sorts of problems. Between positioning the yak and it coming in my general direction, its right at the boat too quickly...would prefer a more classic fight...run away, reel in...run away, reel in,etc . Nope...thrashing around on top of water, line around flag, under boat....decided to power on and pull him a little..(learned this from a Rawkfish vid  :)).Still gave him opportnities to get away...hit the line with the net, etc. Finally slid him in the net...thank goodness there were no sealions around. Cut plug,anise-garlic,23fow,on the floor.

Nice fishy and great story. The Mirage Drive is good for so many things and getting those crazy fish in the net is one of them for sure. It's scary when those green fish get on the top right away and don't want to go down. Good job and thanks for the post.

Guy's, I think if other folks don't start catching fish soon, they may form a lynch mob.

Beautiful fish! and thanks for the detail on the bait. I keep wondering why I use Anise oil. Now I know.

Thanks guys!
DP (DK)...... Used to fish with an old timer who insisted we douse our hands in anise to disguise the human smell. Didn't like that much, but after I learned it was a great attractive scent, it's always part of the combo. Lately it's been anise with procure garlic slamola (also good for kokes).
Had just filled the body cavity of the herring I was using with Mikes Lunker Lotion (anise, herring)....Really like this stuff....hangs on quite a while.
Thanks again, good luck everyone!

You're having a good year so far!  I'd love to just get on the board.

Certainly not gonna complain, Mark. ..Thanks! ...I KNOW your fish is coming. Hope I can pick your brain before fall salmon on your mooching/ trooching technique. That looked like a lot of fun at high tide at Astoria.
