I've been watching the catchable trout plant numbers for Lacamas Lake for a while. I always like going out there in the one to two weeks following a big plant of trout which happens several times in April. What is really special about Lacamas is that it is one of the few lakes in the PDX/Vancouver metro that gets sizable plants of Brown Trout. These fish are stocky little brutes that hit and fight hard. They are also surprisingly toothy unlike there Rainbow colored brethren. Last year I hit this lake after my near brush with water filled lungs on the Columbia and it proved to be a really enjoyable experience and helped restore my confidence in kayak angling.

I put together a tutorial video on how to fish this lake. I hope you get the opportunity to get out and enjoy our trout fisheries from the yak.
