First of all, thanks to Alaska Raft and Kayak for letting me use one of their demos.  With three Hobie outbacks, I get my son on the water with Nick from Southern California that I met via another forum.

We start around 4pm and it was ok halibut action.  All the big fish seemed to have disappeared but we still are catching quite few fish up to about 25 pounds.

Finally as we are headed back to the launch one fish short of a limit, my 10 year old son lands the best fish of the day!  I wonder if he will ever go trout fishing with me again?  lol.  Just awesome.  The best thing in may ways was not the fish, but despite being blanked his first trip, and this trip being over 5 hours long and slow for him, his enthusiasm is amazing!  I'm in trouble right now for not going again today!! lol.

Somehow I think this is just the beginning of a long string of reports where my kid is going to out fish me.  Life is Good!!!!!

A few pics

And of course the video though the go pro's wide angle lens makes it harder to capture other people.

  Ryu did totally awesome.
                                      Your kingship is going down.
At least it's in the family.

You're making great memories for both of you, very precious times.

The glory shot says so much.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

That is so sweet I wish I could've been there to see him catch his first halibut from a kayak. Ryu is one killer fisherman I mean a total fish pimp. When I was 10 the biggest fish I ever got was a 12 inch trout. Ryu you rock.
Take the sticker off your hat Bend the rim and go fishing!

Way to go Ryu. May be its time for him to get on here and tell us how to do it. Love to see the old man get excited putting the harpoon together. Nothing like watching the kids grow.

Rock ON Ryu.   VERY nice fish - looked bigger than my best from a Kayak.  I guess youve earned your dinner this time !
