Newbie to kayaking, old fisherman that hasn't picked up a rod in years.  I have too many hobbies, but I'm determined to get on the water.  Currently have a Wilderness Tsunami 14 that I'm using for learning, and will do some basic outfitting--but plan on a dedicated fishing boat.  Looking for buddies to learn the ropes from,, both for the kayak and fishing the NW.  Most of my fishing experience was on Oklahoma lakes back about 3 decades ago!

Welcome to the North Idaho kayak fishing desert. I have been fishing the local lakes for a number of years and have only met one other kayak fisher. I see a few (very few) recreation yaks on the lakes but none with fishing poles and nets sticking up. Kinda strange as there is some pretty good local yak fishing here for the usual lake fish. Having your intro post up all day and I'm the only reply sorta says it all I guess. Welcome to a real small club....

If Idaho gets too congested with kayak anglers, you can come visit the Western Montana kayak fishing desert.

Welcome welcome welcome. ...You are in a great area, Lake Pend Oreille is epic. I have friends that own land just east of there and the trout in that lake and river system are massive.

Thanks Gents.  I do notice that it is rather sparse around here.  Seems a bit odd to me, given the number of lakes.  If anyone is looking for a newbie to drag along on a trip, give me a shout!

Coeur d'Alene just made one of the top bass lakes in America.   Dannybay and I have it on our list of lakes to hit in the next two years. Have fun!

Pete, I suspect I'm going to be hanging on your coat tails a bit.  I have much, MUCH, to learn.  Being retired...and having spent many years in Texas and dealing with everything being at least 3 hours away, Montana is just a short jaunt!
