Well, Snag, SnapperJIm and I headed to Tofino on Thursday.  We thought we try a different route then the usual highway.  Made a slight detour on a logging road.  Someone thought it must have been a good practical joke and moved one of the sign.  We ended up lost somewhere in the forest hill.

Ran into an old guy in his 60's camping with his trailer (Snag thinks this guy must be watching over his "stash".  Why on earth would someone be camping in the middle of a dead end road way out in the boonies in the forrest?  I have to agree, doesn't make sense.)  We back track somehow, then just when we thought we be 20 minutes to the nearest town - Port Alberni, the logging road was obstructed with a fallen tree spray painted with the word "Stop".

The construction crew was putting in the new bridge and it wouldn't be ready til next week...oh boy, Snag's low on fuel too....thank goodness one of the foreman gave him free gas - about 18 Litres and a logging road map.
Though we did eventually made it to Tofino Long Beach by Friday, the detour through the logging roads turned up something wonderful.  A lake called "Macclure", should have been called "Mosquitoe" lake because there was a gazillion of them flying around and above the lake.

We camped there overnight, the water was warm, Snag thinks there may be a hot spring somewhere down below because we notice there were alot of bubbles rising from the bottom to the surface and they were everywhere.  Beautiful hills, I called it ____ but don't think it would be appropriate on this forum so will have to let you readers see the photos.  Hopefully will be able to attach and upload.  If not, would you like to post it SnapperJim?

Ok, guys, chime in anytime now.  Tell the gang how we met up with Tin-Pusher and the fishing trip in Clayoquot Sound!

So how was the fishing on the lake? Inquiring minds want to know.

Hey Cowboy!   ;D

Only Snag tried fishing.  I don't know what lure he was using so you'll need to ask him.  I was too busy paddling and enjoying the surroundings of the lake.  Snag didn't catch anything but that doesn't mean there wasn't any fish.  I notice every so often there was an occasional ripple effect on the surface with some movement underneath.  As soon as I paddle over, it was gone, so.... ::)

We only slept there one night.  Perhaps next time it will have to be longer so we can try different lures.
