What's the preferred Chinook fishing technique/rig at PC?

Outstanding catch and video.

I tried trolling for Chinook with a Delta Diver, big flasher and hoochie but the drag was too much for rowing.  I'm curious what setup you were trolling.

My go to salmon rig is a 4 oz delta diver to a fish flash style flasher then 4 feet of leader to a plug cut herring. Put it out 30 ft on the line counter in the early morning.

This trip was a bit of an experiment.  In place of the herring was a um..modified 3.0 mag lip.  Goofy thing was in the water for 30 minutes before fish on.

Great video.  Was the trip in on 2x speed, or were you thinking what I was thinking (namely, that bleeding the fish out on the water might attract some larger animals)?

No but the potential for "chumming" for bigger critters has crossed my mind.  Ha ha

Love the video.  Do you always use the same landing technique or is it surf dependent?  I can see damaging your mirage drive by leaving it plugged in and not securing it with pedals fully depressed.  I often leave my drive in and have drug it across the sand and made it skip teeth on the gear a few times.  Now I make sure to secure it with the pedals fully depressed so the fins hug up tight against the hull.

Dave

Yea pretty much use the same landing all the time.  I try to have the mirage pegged up as I hit the beach.  My hook for the bungie to keep it up broke a couple trips ago and used to hook it in the up position once on the beach.

Nice video and fish.   Where do you launch at PC?  And any chance someone will be fishing there Sunday through Wednesday?   I'll be there on vacation and considering taking my AI.

The launch is at the north side near the cape.  I may be able to get out next week if ocean and home life conditions permit.  Earliest available day (if the stars align) would be wens.
