took off for wyeth on the columbia today and caught my biggest bass of the year so far, on a 1in gulp minnow. the wind was pretty bad i paddled into it for as long as i could and fished my way back. i only caught 3 total and lost maybe as many more. the last one was the biggest going right about 16 in total. hooked it on 2lb test line and a 1/32 jig with the gulp minnow while fighting the fishy i learned that i need to have my front rod lower as i could not swing my ultralight around it. the darn fish buried its self in the weeds and i thought i lost it, while trying to paddle back one handed, stabbed my paddle into the weeds and thank goodness the fish came free!! if i want to keep fishing in the wind i need a drift chute and rudder i think as that wind pushed me all over.
