I've finally escaped California. Moved there in '89 from Minnesota and wanted to move North since about 1990.  Cuss me if you wish but, many Northwesterners came from from somewhere else too.  My girlfriend and I are temporally in the Spokane Valley area to check things out and save money until we can buy another home and property in Northern Idaho or Oregon.

Anyway, I'm interested in some local E Washington/Idaho fresh water fishing. Also interested in fishing the Sound and further south to Long Beach for salmon, etc. I'd appreciate any advise of good places too fish or invitations.  I mostly fly fish but, I'll pick up a gear rod from time to time.

Will be going on the annual PB salmon trip out of Astoria in a couple weeks and thinking about bringing the yak to fish Long Beach. The salmon seem to come in fairly close around there.

I also white water raft and Spey fish for steelhead. If anyone has similar interests let me know.

Welcome to the board, not going to cuss you, I'm originally from Calif also, altho it's been quite a few years.  Don't know much about fishing North Id, or E. Wash, some folks that do well come along.  Enjoy

In Washington I know people like to fish the pot holes reservoir, and on the Idaho side of course Coeur d'Alene lake, Hayden lake, etc.  Good luck!

Thanks. Just looked at Potholes from the satelite view.  What an interesting looking reservour.  Might have to try it with the girlfriend sometime.

Lake CDA is just down the road but, rather intimidating due the size and big PBs.  Something about fresh water, people with more money than they know what to do with and big PBs reminds me of this.

Maybe there's some good back water with Pike or Muskie?  Haden is another big one that's probably better suited for a PB.    Is there any good smaller water?

It's been over 2 years since I moved from Spokane to the coast, but there used to be some good tiger muskie fishing in Newman Lake.
I don't know how the fishing is lately, but I'd recommend Bonnie Lake (south of Cheney) for a fun kayak trip.  Very scenic and used to have decent crappie fishing.
