Anyone know why Hobie would put the FF through-hull plug in the tankwell on the down slope bottom instead of on the side maybe behind the seat?

I took my new Revo out for a shake down cruise in the ocean, and had the FF cable through the fitting with the correct plug, and took on a LOT of water. It was not gooped (still working with the wiring), but did not seem like it would take on that much water.  Seems like I ride alot lower in the water in the Revo.  I've now gooped the hell out of it, and that should cure the problem.  Just weird that Hobie would drill 3 holes in the boat for FF cables.

One more question;  The new scupper system under the seat makes no sense to me.  While launching in the surf the seat area fills up pretty easily with water.  So you jump in and start out with a whole mess of water in the boat until you can stop and pull the cord to drain the water? I think a couple scuppers would work better.  Appreciate any thoughts on this.

You can lock the drain plug open.

Thanks, Lee.  I'll keep it in the locked open position when launching.  Still seems like a really small scupper for the amount of water that can come into the seat area though.

I agree, large scuppers might be better for under the seat. I've got the Revo 16 and I have a hard time draining the seat area if there's a lot of chop and swell. The extra water makes my kayak tippy and it's really frustrating. I end up sitting in a pool of water or spend a lot of time using my bilge pump to bail water out from under the seat.

It's way too small.  I'm thinking of cutting out some foam to fit under the seat and keep so much water from building up.  Gotta figure out how to keep it from blocking the drain too.

Yeah the water under the seat thing is probably the biggest problem I have with the new Revo. That drain hole is not big enough. There needs to be a couple of them or something else. That hole can easily get clogged with small pieces of fishing tackle that get washed into it and when there is too much water there I can't open the hatch out of fear that the sloshing water is going to flow right into the hatch if the boat rocks from side to side. However, when I don't have water under the seat it makes an awesome place to store tackle trays.
