I've run into a lot of these so far this year, but this big one is hands down the largest I've seen off Washington's coast. And it let me pet it.

That's pretty cool Todd!

How was paddling with Mola goo on your hands?

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

When I see those it always makes me wonder how a docile piece of meat that large fends off predators? You would think sharks would just smash the shit out of those things.

So you've touched one before too eh?

I got cut by one once riding it like an idiot cowboy, that took about a month to heal. No wonder every creature in the sea leaves them alone.

A younger version of me playing tackle the mola. Sort of an ocean cowboys version of cow tipping.

I'm glad I grew up, slowed down and don't take big risk anymore.

I ran into that one about 6 miles off Cape Flattery, coming back in from Swiftsure

I've seen those off Westport and was told that on a diet of jellies, their meat isn't appealing to anglers or discerning ocean predators.
