Another place to learn respect for bar conditions is westport.  It's Slightly more tame.

Get back in by 1 pm after that the winds pick up or at least be close to your launch by that time. I go out of Warrenton and troll against the current and pick up fish within casting distance of the jetties. I have anchored and gone over to the sands for sturgeon even in fast current but if you plan to go any distance be willing to be out ALL DAY and battle the wind and when I say battle I mean battle. Don't go if it is foggy people will run you over and don't go in the dark because again not good. Not as bad as most make it out to be its just like anything else you must ease into it. Most important part is to have fun with it.

That is not always true. Any river draining into the ocean needs respect. Mother Nature demands it.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

I said slightly more tame,  that didn't mean it wasn't dangerous.
