I'm going to try Whittier tomorrow for silvers. Should be down there early afternoon to fish the incoming tide. I wish I had time for a trip to WG, but have a class Saturday.

Caught a few of the ever present rock fish, one small halibut, maybe 5 lbs, but the salmon showed no love.

What size are the rockfish?  I wouldn't mind targeting them if they're over 18".

I caught one yellow eye that was 16" but the rest were small.

I've found that if you grill the fish whole, a 12" rockfish has nearly the same amount of meat as a "filleted" out 20 incher. I cringe every time I see a rockfish filleted. So much meat loss usually.

Rudy, do you freeze whole rockfish? Or do you always grill them fresh so you don't need to freeze them?

Whole fish are usually grilled fresh. If I freeze them, I will Head and gut them.  Gills gotta go and they are a pain in a rockfish. If you remove the head leaving the collar piece intact, you get most of the meat.
