Hello NW Kayak Anglers! New member here (long time lurker) hoping to catch my first salmon out of a kayak this fall. I purchased a Hobie Pro Angler on clearance at Next Adventure earlier this year and have only taken it out once to hagg lake. Trying to get salty in the next couple weeks and would love  to get your input on where my best chances are to catch a king!

The first kayak accessories I purchased was a PFD, flag and rape whistle lol.

I've done some rigging (fish finder, rod holders, flag/light, dry box) and think I'm ready to go.

Glad to be a part of this forum and hope to see you guys on the water!

Welcome!  If you're interested in salmon fishing from your kayak, many great opportunities here.  And what better way to pick up some of the finer points than a Rawkfish clinic on the subject:

Thank you for the link and warm welcome! I'm actually trying to hit tillamook bay or garibaldi that day since I have that day off but will try to attend if time permits. Nice to meet you Sam.

Another howdy here as well. Pinstriper (Mark) and I are considering Nehalem or Tillamook on Labor Day (9/07).

Give us a holler if interested!

It's still pretty early for Tillamook right now. I don't usually start going there until the middle/end of this month.

The only signs I have heard about Tillymuck is an alleged monster nook carcass left behind in the garibaldi fish cleaning station. But for all we know it was took out in the ocean.

I think Nehalem is the place these days unless new information comes in.

Thanks for the advice Rawkfish.

Agreed, Pinstriper. Hopefully the water's cooled off some since we were last at Nehalem.

Yup. Most, if not all carcasses you see there right now we're taken from the jaws on out.

Wow thank you all for the replies, this is exactly why I joined this forum.

Mojo, if you're up for it, a couple buddies and I will be there early on Sept 10 (Thursday). It will the first time for us in the salt so we plan on taking it slow, would be nice to have a experienced yaker out there with us showing us the ropes. I'll PM you my info.

Surforegon - nice to meet you! Never fished the nehalem bay before but I'd love to give it a shot some day. Would you be willing to take out a novice this fall?

Lawyerbob - Thanks for the invite! I unfortunately have to work this holiday weekend (hospital) so we will have to try another time. Look forward to seeing you on the water.

Rawkfish - I love your videos man! You make it look so easy lol. I'll be seeing you at the Next Adventure seminar on the 10th!

Pinstriper - Hope you guys do well and get into some fish this weekend. Curious as to where you and Lawyerbob decide on going, would love to hear a report since we'll be heading out to that area next thursday.
