I won't be buying these again.  Smoking with wood introduces enough carcinogens to the fish, I don't need to add burnt paint as well.  They ignored my email from a week ago, so not very responsive either.

Yikes! I'll be avoiding that brand as well. I bet "lawsuit" in the subject line will get you a response.

Thank you for the heads-up. I generally don't need to resort to buying wood chips, but now I'm not going to even smoke the salmon if I must resort to that brand!

I just smoked up some salmon I caught last week and used the cut up dried limbs from my yard.

Same here. Never had an issue. In fact, I picked up another bag of apple at Fisherman's yesterday.  They are on sale right now for $2.99/bag.

I grew up brining and smoking salmon(as well as meats). You should look around for local stuff.Alder is the go-to for salmon.I recently tried fig and grape wood and was pleased with the results.Look around for neighbors who have fruit trees that might need some pruning. At the very least avoid non domestic product.Esp.China.

That's a good offer. I use 1/2 apple 1/2 alder when I'm sharing, or sub in hickory for alder when I'm not. Good stuff!
