Hey guys,

I was on NorCal kayakers, then I was on NWKA Alaska. Now I am living in Eugene and I am excited to fish Oregon this fall. I finally have a job with weekends off, so I plan on doing a lot of weekend fishing once I get settled. Any quick recommendations for places to fish near Eugene? I am mostly interested in targeting trout, salmon, lings, and halibut (though I know that isn't happening this fall).

That being said, I am looking for a used pedal kayak, preferably a Hobie. If anyone has any for sale, please send me a PM!

I am looking forward to meeting some fellow kayak fishermen!

Welcome Tyler!

Most of us in the Eugene area tend to fish the Charleston/Coos Bay area for our salty fix. Sunset Bay is definitely worth the drive. Otherwise you will need to go North as far as Alsea, Newport or Depoe Bay. There's not a whole lot of bottom structure in-between. Halibut is a different story though. You will need to travel a bit for that.

For trout there are many opportunities. So many reservoirs lakes rivers and streams! For places in the near vicinity, I would recommend Cottage Grove Lake or Dorena Lake. There is good action on most of the costal lakes too. There are opportunities further East up Hwy 58- Hills Creek Reservoir, Odell, Crescent, Wikeiup, Crane Prairie, the list goes on...

Now that fall is here, most folks are chasing salmon. The Siuslaw typically runs a bit late and should be heating up any time now.

Keep an eye out here for open invites. Theres a couple FB groups also.

Thanks guys. I'm ready to go with my current kayak so as soon as I have a free weekend I'll be heading out to the coast,  hopefully to chase salmon.  Thanks for the suggestions Erik.I've got lots of places to try!
