hit this park on tuesday and had a great time even though no fish to hand. i raised 6 or 7 but could not put the hook to them. after getting annoyed i put on a streamer and trolled for slamon or stealhead, no action but i paddled longer then i had paddled before so i was happy. the only real complaint about kayak fishing i have is the tendency for me to stop fishing and just paddle and explore. is there any decent salmon fishing around mollala river state park? went from maybe 1 mile below the put in to the mouth of the mollala.

There was a seminar at Fisherman's about 6 weeks ago about salmon above the falls, focused on Coho at the mouth of the Mollala. Idea is to watch the fish counts at Willy Falls, about a day later they will stack up at the mouth. As soon as you get rain they run up the river, so you gotta get them between the time they come over the dam, and before the next rain. Trolling plugs was the focus, and from a boat - Coho want a faster troll, so if you don't get action, speed up.

I haven't done it yet, prolly won't get the opportunity this year.

This is not a hot fishery, the action won't be nonstop. But its there, if you put in the effort, and trolling back and forth while not particularly obsessing about the bite is probably a good mindset.

It can be good at times. Fishing has been very slow this year. Here is the link to fish over the falls.

Pink, red and orange wiggle warts is what most people use.
