Hey all,
Hoping to get out and (standup) paddle a river this weekend. Can anyone recommend a river and area that is open to salmon and tidally influenced? Within a couple hours of Seattle would be great. I can handle mild rapids, but would prefer something nice and high/slow. Still newish and exploring, thank you in advance for the help!

Snohomish River is easy, but just recently closed for fishing salmon.

I was going to suggest the tributaries of Grays Harbor --- The Chehalis, Humptulips, Hoquiam, Wishkah, John's , Elk, and Wynoochee Rivers all have tide water that are SUP friendly.
However they will all close to salmon fishing Monday...........

That leaves the Willapa River and it's tribs. So far--- they are still open to salmon fishing. Lots of options down this way. Lots of tide water to get out and explore. Would you like a list ??? With launches ???
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

For the Wllapa--- you can launch at South Bend and be in the main river itself...

I have a better idea. Instead of doing a whole bunch of typing I would offer this link to Leroy's Ramblings. He has already listed most of the fishing spots down this direction and is very articulate about the fishing . Here is the link...

Leroy has several articles about fishing the coast and other areas as well. You might want to bookmark his site and spend some time reading up.  It will be time well spent.
