Looking for a GPS/FF combo for my new (!!!) 2014 Hobie Revo 13.

I know I am beating a dead horse by even asking about fish finders, but....

What GPS system would you guys recommend for someone who plans on living in many places (I will likely live in Oregon, Alaska, California all in the next year, and possibly New Hampshire). I fish the salt as well as lakes, rivers, ponds, puddles, bath tubs, bird baths, and anywhere else I can.  >:D

Essentially, I want to avoid buying something that will end up not working in a different state or costing a lot more money to do so.

Oh, and I am on a low budget  :banjo:

Congratulations!

I think your answer is more of HOW your FF is mounted than which one you choose.

The software is somewhat specific to brand. If you get a unit that has generic built-in hotmaps, should work just about anywhere. If you want detail then buy the software that has the coverage you want later.
Better to keep ones mouth shut and presumed a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

I got Lowrance Elite 4 HDI Gold edition - it comes with Navionics maps on SD card. I guess it is not the best Chartpotter/Sonar combo, but I like it because it is compact and pretty easy to use right out of box.

You mean how the screen is mounted, or the transducer? I am assuming that since it is lowrance ready I will have to just do it through the hull, right? I have always had the transducer on a ram arm, which I like because of the clarity and because it is super easy to remove.

More research to do....

Exactly. Yes, both. I agree with you and do the same with the transducer on a ram arm. I mount the FF head the same way on a Ram arm. All the wiring stays connected and nothing stays in the hull for storage and transportation. Going the Yakattack Cell-block method would serve the same idea. Easily transferable between multiple kayaks as well.

WOAH! I have never heard of the cell block, that thing is awesome. The only draw back is it looks like it takes up a lot of deck space... I will have to look at the kayak and see where I would want it.
