Hey guys!

I want to do some shrimping out of Whittier (yea, I've got a spot). Figure I'd do an overnight soak so spend one night out.  Figure maybe targeting late May.  Anyone want to join?

If weather is good and we are feeling really adventurous, I've got a spot I've caught halibut that isn't much further.

That's far enough out for my ribs to heal up.   I might be in for this depending on the timing.   I have a couple trips, one ends 6th May, the other is expected but not firm yet, so my calendar might shift.

I LOVE PWS spot and side stripes though, so would love to be able to hit them from Kayak.    Do you have a plan / setup for your traps already.   I have hand lined just a couple up - a lot of work - and have reeled one up from 500' on an old Penn Reel, which exploded partway back to the boat.   Long story but I had to go jigging for the second trap with my jigging rod and that was a PITA.    Happy ending -- I recovered all the gear but the setup I had was a bit too heavy to pull with a rod from a kayak.

I've got 3 shots of line on a penn reel that I use. Need one more trap so I can fish 3 traps. More or less replicated Howard McKim's setup.

This might be getting out of control.  Now I'm trying to size a battery and incorporate an electric pot puller

Howard's set up works but it isn't simple or easy.
Last year I pulled by hand and I think it was easier than reeling it up.

Is it spring yet?  I would love to join you for shrimping adventure but it's still too cold outside.  Let me know around mid summer for shrimping and I'll join you.  Until then I goto uncle Costco for my shrimp.
