So tell us, how did you end up having a yak come off your car when moving at speed ... TWICE?!?

alright
<I keep rubbing, but I can't seem to get that "Gullible" sign off my forehead>

The first one was my Cobra xl. I just did a poor job strapping down the nose and it fell 3/4's of the way off, shearing my drivers side mirror and dragged beside the car till I stopped held on by the rear strap. It was really strange how little damage that did to the boat.

The other was waaay more dramatic and scary. I had my Heritage 14 nested on top of an OK scupper pro on top of my Subaru. To act as a pad, I had a partially inflated air mattress between the car and the scupper pro. I've since seen a commercial roof mount that does just that so that's not completely crazy!! The commercial system however uses a canvas covered air bag.
Mine didn't.
Air mattress popped loosening the tie down straps, air got under the boats, they went vertical breaking the now overloaded rear roof bar off and shattering my rear window. Seems like the Heritage somehow stayed on the car and the Scupper Pro slid directly behind the car untethered and then into a conveniently located grass median again, with little damage to the boat (Did I mention I was on I-10 in New Orleans going 70+ mph?). The Lord really does look out for fools and small children.

I'm getting kinda tired of being experienced. As Danny Glover said: "I'm getting to old for this shit"
