Picking first (real) kayak

Honestly a good ocean boat and one you can comfortably stand and cast from are two separate things.
Unless you are 5'6" or a gymnast standing in an ocean boat is not something I would recommend. 
I know Mojo loves his Big Tuna, but personally I think they are terrible boats.
It is hard to beat an OK Trident 13/15 or a Tarpon 140. The Kraken might also be on that list but I haven't been out in one.

Sounds like a good excuse to me!

Watch out man, you put two in the garage. Leave them alone for a while soon there will be four. They start multiplying fast if you let them. damhik

Fly fishing and inshore fishing I would recommend a Wavewalk.  Nothing to get tangled, and great for standing and casting. 

I have yet to take one offshore and I am not equipped to take one out there yet (its on my list).  There are folks who do and the W700 I think will do fine in the water I see most in.  But I need to do some sea testing this summer before I can recommend it for anything other than near shore and freshwater. 

Whatever you do be sure and paddle them first!
