So I ended up buying two of the ram flush rod holder wedge mounts to prevent drilling before I was ready. With the mounts the fit into the rod holders on my outback but will not tighten super tight. If I barely pull on themy they will come out. Has anyone had this issue? Or know how to fix it?
Thanks for the help.

I had the same issue. I ended up putting in Scotty flush mounts and then installed the smaller Ram wedge mounts into the Scotty flush mounts. Worked out very well but I did have to do some drilling.

When you use a wedge-mount in a Scotty flush mount, how far above the Scotty does the ball sit?

Every photo I see of the Ram wedge-mount makes it look like the bottom of the ball is easily two inches above the flush mount.

Did that make sense?

I want to put the Scotty flush mount in a somewhat vertical location around the mesh pocket of a Revo, and I'd prefer that the ball not stick out an extra couple of inches.

The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

The base of the Ram ball sits flat on the flush mount. It actually works really well, I switch back to a Scotty mount easily if needed... Roy (coosbayaker) gave me the idea. PM me your # and I can text you a picture when I get home if you want.....cpu at home is on the fritz otherwise I would post a pic here.....cant post pics at work due to our watchguard  :(
