Today's trip to Homer finally put some fish on the deck. I launched from Bishop's beach and went out about half a mile to find some deep-ish water (30'). I tried trolling for kings, but didn't like my chances with only a 30' water column to work with. I switched over to bouncing a cut plug on bottom, drifting with the tide and wind. I wanted to catch something, anything. I figured bottom bouncing was my best bet, and it paid off.

I caught two ..... Fish? And one p. cod. Everything lived to fight another day.

I did take a pic of the second fish. Anyone know what this is? The first fish looked just like it, but all brown.

Both were sculpins...Irish lords are usually brown. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Nice job, did you keep the p cod? I've heard they're pretty good if you don't mind the worms....
Fishing relaxes me. It's like yoga except I get to kill something.

Thanks for the lead, SwansonSilver. After a little googling, I'm pretty sure I had a yellow Irish lord and a red Irish lord. The cod went back too. I didn't have  time to process fish today.

Glad to hear you got out and the weather cooperated.   Fish are a bonus.   Good luck nailing a king or halibut next time !
