we did not make it out to westport slough instead opted for a half day trip to the columbia slough. was my first time paddling in my drysuit and all in all was not bad. the fishing was pretty much none existent as we did not catch a thing tossing wooly buggers and clousers. talked to few people using bait and they were catching a few. we paddled up to a bridge that said river mile 2.5 and turned around. think the water needs to warm a little for flies. practiced my reentry and had my first unsuccessful attempt and then my first successful one.and learned that i need to tighten the neck gasket as i head water on 2/3 of my shirt and half my pants. all in all a fun day may try and hit benson lake this saturday.

Water in the sloughs is just  starting to hit fifty, should start picking up in the next week or so, depending on the rain. Looking to get out there my self and see if I can get a bass on a fly this year.
