Here are some of my tips for chasing Springers. Hope it helps! I'll have much more info to share at the East Side Springer Clinic this Thursday at 7pm.

Thanks for the info!  I plan to help memorialize it with a beer on Thursday.

Great article, as always !

One question - and maybe you can touch on this Thursday night - you talk about trolling with the rod in your hands. Others say keep it in the rod to keep a consistent action on the bait and help resist the urge to set the hook. So more on that, please.

Also, will you have your leaders and flasher setup with you so we can monkey-see/monkey-do it ?

This is a really good question. It makes me think I should have elaborated about this a little in my article. I have talked about this in past clinics and will talk about it again on Thursday evening because it's an important point.

Short answer: It boils down to your own ability to resist your natural reflexes.

Thorough answer: Come see me Thursday evening. ;D

And yes, I plan to bring rigs to provide something to look at.

Wish I could make this, but my in laws are in town Thursday afternoon and the wife just might kill me if I go and drink beer and talk about fishing while leaving them.

Any chance it will be recorded and uploaded somewhere?

Easy solution.  Bring them all so they can understand your hobby and how well organized our kayak fishing group is getting out here.

I totally hear you on that and typically would under most circumstances, but in this case I will have to bow out... Next time for sure.

A wife and in-laws that don't appreciate fishing and free beer is a problem all it's own.

LOL I don't think anyone wants my father in law at this event!! My wife would actually love it, but not with her mom and dad. They actually love that I fish and support it 100% but since they're only here for a few days it would be best to spend it with them.

We'll just have to grab a beer at the Old Market Pub soon. I can fill you in on some details.

That's a deal! I am free most nights. Hopefully will have a 'yak to put in the water here shortly.
