I didn't get a license last year (2015-2016), so if I am going to get in on the lingcod and halibut seasons I'll need a current license. Does anyone know when the 2016-2017 fishing licenses will be available for purchase? If memory serves, it is usually sometime in mid-April.

The old ones expired March 31st, so 16/17 started on April 1st.  I think you can purchase in advance of the start date.

Welcome back to fishing, hope you have a great season.

The new "pamphlet" for 16-17 isn't on their site yet, so presumably the regulations remain unchanged.  "Opening day" for closed lakes is fourth Saturday in April.

2016 Hobie Outback LE (screamin' orange)
2014 KC Kayaks K12 (the better half's, in camo)

Great! Thanks. Because WDFW splits the season across calendar years it was unclear to me if the "2016" listed on the online license page referred to 2015-2016 or 2016-2017. They should remedy that ambiguity.

If I had it my way, all states, should have calender fishing seasons and regs (1/1 - 12-31), and licenses should be good for 365 days from date of purchase.  If I'm unable to purchase a license until june, I shouldn't pay  same price for a license that's only good for 8 months...stupid. just make them 365 day licenses. Easy.

Ya right like any government is going to give money back for something they reduced or removed! :laughing4:
