Huge thanks to AkRider for hosting the build session.  My son had a blast and got a functional battery box out of it.  First seemed intimidating but AkRider walked us through it and made it pretty easy for us.

That is one happy and proud youngster!

That was pretty cool - I am glad Ryu could make it (literally).    I have your second cable ready anytime Kardinal84.

Not quite the same as fishing, but hey at least we got together and it was warm, and the leftover beer will be put to good use !   It was good to meet Dan and Eric, too.

I took some more pictures from the build of Michilutiq's box, and will use those, the revised schematic, and a few instructions to put up a new kit list and powerbox DIY in the drillin and cutting section.   Find it here:   http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=16848.0

FYI builders - I used a few more of those yellow connectors in the last build and I was NOT impressed with the crimps.   I'll let you know if I find a better supply - after really working em they did hold for me but you may want to pull test any yellow ones really good to be sure.   Can always re-crimp any that fail here - you know where to find me.

Do any of you box builders have a good way of securing your box inside the kayak? I think I'm going to finish my super battery box this weekend, and I don't want that bad boy bouncing around inside my hull if I decide to practice my acrobatic maneuvers.

My best idea so far is to just wedge it in with some carefully shaped foam blocks, but I'd like to see some other solutions if they're out there

I can't fit a full up battery box in the hatch of my Propel, but I used heavy-duty self-stick velcro to mount the battery itself...had a heck of a time getting my battery out before securing everything and heading home. I made sure to clean the surfaces of the inner hull and bottom of battery with rubbing alcohol first.

I secured a thin plastic platform in Hobie forward hatch and tie wrap to the post and platform.   Adds about 5 oz to weight but keeps it centered - platform is nice but not really necessary.    Used those self adhesive tie wrap holders - so far they haven't come off in two years- and could have done just a couple of those and a Velcro loop or strap.

I am surprised they are still sticking, really.
