So I've got my kids up here, and not enough yaks to cover 4 people. I am considering renting a PB to let them catch their first halibut.  The problem I  am having is I can't take the rental on cook inlet and I haven't fished halibut enough out of Seward to have any good spots. If anyone has any recommendations i would greatly appreciate the help (and so would my boys).

How big a power boat?

Not too far out on the west side is Bear Glacier.   I have had spotty luck for halibut up to 60# off the gravel beach there.    I think we mostly fished them during July / Aug - and we liked that area since we were getting both Silvers and a few Halibut.   I haven't tried that place in June, but you could try there both deep and shallow (like 80' - easily in sight of the wave breaks on the beach)

Hive island is about the same distance out - if conditions are good try between Hive and Fox or Hive and Rugged.   My experience here is mixed too - sorry to say I don't have any really reliable holes mapped inside the bay.   ... Still looking, sure like to find someplace closer in.

Akrider, your experience is similar to mine.  I have caught halibut right off Miller's landing and a tad south of a tonsils creek.  neither place I'd consider a halibut hole.

my issue with Resurrection Bay is that the fish tend to be deep. 150 to 250 ft for me.  Add the huge diversity in fish...Cod, pollock, skates, arrowtoith , etc and only 1 in 10 fish or less cranked up from 200 ft is a halibut equals no fun.

The good news is that it's highly likely you will be reeling in something. Bad news, it's likely not going to be a halibut but it can certainly happen.

Check with Kwake. He rents his yaks and has the 17' tandem that is amazing. Might be an option that lets you fish the Cook side.
