Wondering if any of you have kayak fished Maui and have a recommendation on a good guide? The Hubby (Michilutiiq) and I are headed to Maui and want to do some kayak fishing while we're there. We're interested in both near shore and deep sea fishing. I've done quite a bit of searching online for potential guides but nothing beats some feedback from you all!

We went with this guy and would recommend him highly. Although ocean conditions prevented us from having the ideal trip, (due to my seasickness), he is a real pro and gentleman and I'd go again.

I am going to Maui in the summer too and plan to go kayak fishig.  Search in the forum with the word "Maui" and you will have lots of threads.  I recall reading a thread about a local rental shop in Maui with good reference to kayaking, fishing, and guide services.  Will be checking and if I find it I will send the thread or web site unless you find it first. Hope you catch lots of fish and write about it.

Thanks! We have confirmed a deep sea fishing day with Jon Jon and have rented kayak and fishing gear for an in-shore day of fishing as well. We'll let you guys know how it goes! :)

The Hubby Michilutiiq and I rented all the gear necessary to do near shore fishing from Jon Jon (Local Fishing Knowledge owner and guide). The fishing was slow but we did catch a variety of fish. Two days later we went on a guided near shore kayaking trip with Jon Jon. The fishing was even slower. He was very professional, kind and did a great job of explaining the how's and why's of fishing. I think we just ended up fishing on one of those sloooooow days everyone dreads... the ones where no matter what you try you just don't catch. Bummer. But, we did land a couple small ones! Photo of one keeper, an interesting Trumpet type fish the Hubby caught and this with Jon Jon at the end of our guided trip.
