We are looking to expand and add one more line of kayaks to our current offerings. Currently we are looking at both the Jackson and Wilderness product lines.

We talked with several people at the Sportsman Show this spring and found that there was a pretty decent number of Jackson and Wilderness kayak users already in Alaska. We would be interested to hear from you as to what models you are using and how they perform in our local waters.

Any info you can share will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

I'm using a wilderness systems thresher 155 in Alaska it's a great ride.I also used the 140 thresher for a day they have some nice features but they are not pedal powered. I think I have a solution for no pedals.
Take the sticker off your hat Bend the rim and go fishing!

I'd think for chilly Alaskan waters , you'd want stability to be #1 , which goes hand in hand with safety.
Google search  Raptor Kayak reviews...

I am the owner / designer.  www.santacruzkayaks.com    I've sent over a dozen to Sitka over the years.. including to one of the Coast Gaurd execs who has been a repeat customer.  Our kayaks are mfg'd in Leola PA at an Amish run shop.   They have been doing a fantastic job maintaining my qualtity standards.

We have a new model just now being released.   The Raptor "G2".   The G2  has an adapter that allows the Hobie pedal drive  to fit.   It also paddles extremely well.    Faster, larger weight capacity than the previous model.  Check out the website, and give me a ring.      I would be grateful for the opportunity to work with you to provide your customers with a great alternative.

AOGOR, do you have rental immersion gear?  If not, is it in your plans for the future?  Immersion gear is my biggest obstacle to bringing guests fishing.  I have a back-up boat and all the gear to go with it, but still can't invite friends because I can't find a cost effective way to address immersion safety.

Now we just need to mount a bracket to your solution to fit a Native ;D

In addition to the retail side of the business we also rent kayaks and the associated safety gear.

Our rental suits are the EZ Model from Stohlquist. In addition we rent NRS Chinook PFDs. Plus about everything else.

Shoot us an email of what you might need and we can get you the pricing for the rental gear.

I know you guys are a new shop and getting new inventory all the time. It might be a good idea to put your dry suits on the website and price sheet. I don't have a specific need at the moment, but I have friends and family of all different sizes. Next time I have a guest visiting that wants to kayak fish I'll give you guys a call.
